Glimmingehus is situated in the county of Österlen in Scania (Skåne) is southern Sweden, not that far from Copenhagen in Denmark ind between Ystad and Simrishamn. The great stone building remains intact, surrounded by a moat and stand up in this flat part of Swedish landscape.

Stepping over the threshold feels like stepping directly into the 16th century!
The mighty stone construction was built between 1499 and 1506 by the Danish nobleman, Jens Holgersen Ulfstand. He engaged the master mason Adam van Düren from the north of Germany.
The castle was used as a residence until the mid-16th century, after which the owner moved to more comfortable and newer housing in the grounds.
