1995 Greenland Tsunami:
Filmed by a local resident, this footage shows a small tsunami wave that was generated by the calving
of an iceberg into the sea. The wave is small at first but builds in size crashing into a nearby coast
where fishing boats are tossed and broken apart
After the magnitude 8.6 Good Friday Earthquake (Friday, March 27, 1964), tsunami struck Alaska, British Columbia, California, and coastal Pacific Northwest towns, killing 121 people. The waves caused by the Tsunami were up to 23 m tall, and killed 11 people as far away as Crescent City, California.
On September 26, 1997 Assisi was struck by an earthquake which caused four fatalities. The Basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi was badly damaged (part of the vault collapsed, carrying with it a fresco by Cimabue), and was closed for two years for restoration.
